Overview: Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S24 smartphones have been the subject of leaks for some time, with specification details of the high-end model surfacing recently. The full spec sheet for all three variants has now been leaked, shedding light on their expected debut in mid-January.
Evan Blass, a notable leaker, has disclosed what seems to be Samsung’s official spec comparison chart for the Galaxy S24 series. When looking at the S24 Ultra, which had its specifications leaked previously, the standard S24 models primarily differ in terms of memory, storage options, and camera resolution.
The S24+ model slightly reduces screen size to 6.7 inches from the Ultra’s 6.8 inches and switches to a triple-lens camera system with a 50MP main sensor, as opposed to the Ultra’s 200MP main camera. Despite all models being capable of recording 8K video, the S24+ offers a maximum of 3x telephoto zoom.
The memory and storage configurations for the Ultra and S24+ are consistent, both with 12GB of RAM and options for either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage, noting that Samsung has removed the 1TB option offered in the previous S23 Ultra. The S24+ has a marginally smaller battery capacity at 4,900mAh compared to the Ultra’s 5,000mAh.
The mainstream Galaxy S24 model reduces screen size further to 6.2 inches while maintaining the S24+’s camera setup. The cuts in this model are significant with only 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB. Furthermore, it comes equipped with a 4,000mAh battery, which is a slight increase over its predecessor.
As expected, both the S24+ and standard S24 are constructed with an aluminum chassis, in contrast to the Ultra’s titanium build, and only the Ultra supports the use of an S Pen. The leaks confirm that all three models in the S24 series will feature the latest Qualcomm Gen 3 processor, upgrading from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Based on previous insights, artificial intelligence (AI) is anticipated to play a significant role in the S24 series, with the camera systems leveraging AI for enhanced image stabilization, allowing for clearer photos even in poor lighting. Rumored AI capabilities point to the inclusion of dedicated AI hardware, akin to what is found in Google Pixel 8, potentially enabling features such as real-time voice translation, text summarization, and AI-driven image editing to create new photos or wallpapers.
Samsung is slated to officially unveil the S24 lineup on January 17, with current spec sheets not detailing pricing information.
