The majority of these removals were due to infractions related to Integrity, Authenticity, Privacy, Security, Mental Health, Safety, and Civility policies, making up 90% of all deleted content.

Further actions taken by TikTok included the removal of 348.7 million likes and 211.3 million false followers, along with blocking 7.2 billion fraudulent follow requests – efforts aimed at dismantling automated and inauthentic activities.

TikTok’s Ad Policy Enforcement

Advertising policy compliance was also a focal point, with 1.3 million ads being taken down for failing to meet community standards during the third quarter, marking a rise from the 962,574 removed in the second quarter.

Economic Impact of TikTok

Despite the challenges posed by policy enforcement, TikTok continued to thrive economically. In 2023, the app amassed $3.8 billion in consumer spending and achieved an overall revenue of $10 billion.

Record-Breaking Quarterly Spending

TikTok has also set a significant milestone, becoming the first app to break past the $1 billion mark in quarterly consumer spending during the first quarter.
